On 26 May our colleague Dr George Iordachescu participated in the workshop on The Legitimacy of EU Environmental Governance organised by the Academy of European Law, at the European University Institute in Florence.
The workshop brought together instructors and participants of the 2022 Academy of European Law summer course on The Law of the EU which explored the theme of the legitimacy of EU environmental governance. The aim of the workshop was to discuss draft chapters that will be included in the forthcoming volume ‘The Legitimacy of EU Environmental Governance’ edited by Prof Mariolina Eliantonio and Prof Emma Lees and published by Oxford University Press in 2024.
George’s contribution, co-authored with Dr Michal Krajewski, and titled ‘Scientific Complexity before the EU Courts, Boards of Appeal and National Courts in Environmental Matters’ uses a political ecology approach to examine how scientific uncertainty constitutes a challenge for the legitimacy of the EU Courts and national courts implementing EU law.
